From a distance, We point to what we hate. Standing in our shadow, We proclaim conclusions. Their words are cruel. Their heart is unforgiving. They care only for themselves. But, Unrooted from certainty, Assumptions do not survive. Cruelty withers to fear. Unforgiveness surrenders to sadness. Arrogance bows to a broken heart. From up close, We find what we love. Standing in the light We witness humility. Sacrifice without attention. Forgiveness without expectation. Kindness without agenda. Beautiful, we proclaim. Hearing each string bowed To join the symphony, And then we know, We are, each of us, essential, Like every other piece.
