They can grow anywhere. Their shallow roots cling to even the most barren soil. Scraggly and crooked, they zig and zag, bending to wind and leaning for light. Their trunks ooze with sticky pitch. Their arms twist and reach with polite reservation. They bow with apology - grateful for narrow shafts of sunlight.
